Jumping Flash! is a first-person platformer-shooter developed by Exact and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation in 1995, later made available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and Android. Players control Robbit, a robotic rabbit, across a series of worlds rendered from a first-person viewpoint. The central objective is to locate and recover Jet Pods scattered by the villainous Baron Aloha, an astrophysicist whose actions have left the world facing desolation. Gameplay combines the vertical mobility and exploration typical of platform games with shooter mechanics, requiring Robbit to navigate each environment thoroughly in pursuit of the hidden pods. Defeating Baron Aloha and restoring the world serves as the overarching goal, tying the stage-by-stage pod retrieval into a broader narrative. The game is notable for its unusual perspective, which was relatively uncommon in 3D platformers at the time of its release.
The game revolves around the story of the astrophysicist antagonist, Baron Aloha, who removed giant pieces of land from Crater Planet by using his "gigantic land-lifting machines" in order to turn them into his own private resorts. Aloha also removed and hidden away the twelve Jet Pods that propel each world. The residents of Crater Planet consequently call for help, and in response the Universal City Hall sends one of their agents, a mechanical bunny named Robbit. Robbit must explore each world to retrieve every scattered Jet Pod, stop Aloha, and save Crater Planet from desolate emptiness.
