L.A. Rush is a free-roaming street racing game developed by Midway Studios Newcastle and released in 2005 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC, with a PlayStation Portable version following in 2006. The fourth entry in the Rush series, it draws comparisons to Need for Speed: Underground 2 in its open-world race structure. Players navigate a simulated Los Angeles environment, with a GPS system that allows waypoints to be marked on the map and tracked via an in-game radar. The title features voice performances from Orlando Jones, Bill Bellamy, and rapper Twista. The console and PC releases arrived in North America in October 2005, with European releases following shortly after. The PSP version was released under the shortened title Rush. The game was also at one point planned for release on the Gizmondo handheld platform.
