Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond is a 2D side-scrolling shooter-platformer developed by Vicious Cycle Software and released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game stars Matt Hazard, a fictional veteran game hero whose adventures parody familiar gaming conventions. The central plot sends Matt back through time to prevent the villainous Marathon MegaCorp from orchestrating his death. Players work through side-scrolling levels using a varied arsenal that includes shotguns, plasma rifles, flamethrowers, and grenades, all of which can be upgraded over the course of the game.
