Midnight Club: Los Angeles is an open-world arcade racing game developed by Rockstar San Diego and released in 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a separate version for PlayStation Portable. The fourth entry in the Midnight Club series, it places players in an expansive recreation of Los Angeles — a map reportedly as large as the combined total of all three cities featured in the previous installment. The roster includes 43 cars and 4 motorcycles, each rendered at approximately 100,000 polygons. Players compete in unsanctioned street races across the city's open environment, building their reputation through wins and vehicle upgrades. The game was announced by Rockstar Games in January 2008 and launched in North America on October 20, 2008, following a series of delays, with a PAL release shortly after on October 24.
