Millipede is a 1982 arcade shooter developed by Atari and a direct sequel to Centipede. Players control a shooter at the bottom of the screen, tasked with eliminating a segmented millipede as it descends toward them, along with a variety of additional enemy types. The primary control scheme uses a trackball paired with a single fire button that supports rapid-fire when held. Gameplay is score-based, with no defined endpoint beyond accumulating as many points as possible before all lives are exhausted. Originally released as a coin-operated arcade cabinet, the game was later made available on the Atari 8-bit family, Atari ST/STE, PC, and web browser. Like its predecessor, the core loop centers on fast reflexes and efficient target prioritization as wave after wave of threats close in from above.
