Moon Cresta is a fixed shooter arcade game developed by Nichibutsu and released in 1980, later ported to numerous home platforms including the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amstrad CPC, Dragon 32/64, BBC Microcomputer, PlayStation, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, and Wii. Similar in structure to Namco's Galaxian, the game has players defending against waves of descending enemies from a stationary position at the bottom of the screen. A scrolling starfield creates the visual impression of vertical movement, though the core gameplay follows the fixed-shooter format. Home computer versions for 8-bit systems were published by Incentive Software, making the game accessible to a wide audience outside the arcade. The title appeared on the Wii Virtual Console in Japan in 2010 and was later included in the Arcade Archives series on PlayStation 4 in 2014.
