Motor City Online is a 2001 PC racing game developed by EA Seattle that operated exclusively as an online multiplayer service. Players acquire classic American automobiles, tune and modify their performance characteristics, and compete in races against other players from around the world. The game required a persistent internet connection, as it had no offline component. Despite its premise of connecting car enthusiasts through competitive online racing, the title struggled with significant technical problems throughout its lifespan and was ultimately shut down on August 29, 2003, ending its run after roughly two years of operation.
