NFL GameDay is a 1996 American football simulation developed for PlayStation and the first entry in Sony's NFL GameDay series. The game features the full roster of NFL teams, players, stadiums, statistics, and injury modeling drawn from the real league. On offense, players can execute dives, spins, hurdles, jukes, and stiff arms, while defensive options include dives, jumps, forearm bashes, and swim moves. Strategic depth extends to long snap counts, men in motion, and defensive stunts, giving the game a layer of tactical authenticity meant to reflect real NFL play. The presentation aims for a broadcast-style visual fidelity intended to closely resemble an actual televised game. In addition to a standard single-player experience, the game includes a two-player versus mode where opponents compete head-to-head to determine supremacy on the gridiron.
