Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Blizzard Entertainment and released in 2016. Players select from a varied roster of heroes—soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and stranger figures—each with their own distinct weapons and special abilities. Matches pit two teams against each other across maps modeled on locations from around the world, with success depending on combining different heroes' powers rather than individual aim alone. The emphasis on a large cast of asymmetric characters and objective-based team play defined its approach to the genre. It is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
Soldiers. Scientists. Adventurers. Oddities. In a time of global crisis, an international task force of heroes banded together to restore peace to a war-torn world: OVERWATCH. It ended the crisis and helped to maintain peace in the decades that followed, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery. But after many years, Overwatch's influence waned, and it was eventually disbanded. Overwatch is gone… but the world still needs heroes.
