Gears of War 4 is a third-person shooter developed by The Coalition and released in 2016 for Windows and Xbox One. It opens a new chapter in the long-running Gears of War franchise, shifting focus to a younger generation of characters. The story follows JD Fenix and his companions Kait and Del who, after barely surviving an attack on their settlement, set out to rescue people close to them and to uncover the origin of a dangerous new enemy threatening their world. Like other entries in the series, it is a cover-based shooter built around squad combat against waves of hostile forces. It is available on PC and Xbox One.
