Gears of War 2 is a third-person shooter developed by Epic Games, released in 2008 exclusively for Xbox 360. Set on the planet Sera, the game follows Sergeant Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad as the COG faction wages a renewed campaign against the Locust horde. The Locust are deploying a massive creature known as a riftworm to collapse entire cities by burrowing through the ground beneath them. Delta Squad pursues the threat into the planet's underground depths in an effort to halt the destruction, but their mission uncovers a larger and more complex agenda behind the Locust offensive. The campaign builds on the cover-based combat of its predecessor, pitting players against waves of enemies across subterranean environments as the story moves between surface battles and the cavernous world below Sera.
