Released in March 2010 through Xbox Live Arcade, this 4J Studios remaster revisits the original 2000 first-person shooter for Xbox 360 hardware. The game follows Joanna Dark, an operative working for the Carrington Institute, as she uncovers and works to dismantle a conspiracy orchestrated by the rival corporation dataDyne. Though the gameplay and structure remain faithful to the source material, the underlying engine was rebuilt from scratch to take advantage of Xbox 360 capabilities, resulting in higher-resolution textures and character models, an improved frame rate, and online multiplayer via Xbox Live. Critics generally received the release favorably, acknowledging it as a competent revival of a well-regarded classic, though some noted that the largely unchanged design showed its age.
