Persona 3 is a role-playing game developed by Atlus and released for PlayStation 2 in 2006. The player controls a male high school student who joins SEES, a covert group investigating the Dark Hour — a hidden interval between days that most people never experience. During this period, a massive tower called Tartarus emerges, inhabited by Shadows, entities that consume human minds. SEES members combat these creatures by summoning Personas, physical manifestations of their inner selves. Beyond dungeon crawling and turn-based combat, the game incorporates social simulation mechanics structured around a full school year. The protagonist attends classes, builds friendships, and cultivates relationships outside of battle, and the strength of these bonds directly influences the power of the Personas available to him in combat. This interplay between daily social life and supernatural conflict is central to the game's design.
