Pokémon Ranger is an action role-playing game developed by HAL Laboratory and Creatures Inc. and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS, with a later Wii U release. Originally launched in Japan in March 2006 and subsequently released in North America, Australia, and Europe, the game takes place in the Fiore region, a setting distinct from the mainline Pokémon series. Rather than traditional turn-based battles, gameplay centers on capturing wild Pokémon through stylus-drawn loops on the DS touchscreen, temporarily enlisting them as allies to overcome obstacles and complete ranger missions. A notable feature is cross-game compatibility with Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, and SoulSilver, allowing players to transfer a Manaphy egg — containing the legendary Pokémon Manaphy — into those titles, providing a meaningful incentive for players engaged with the broader Pokémon ecosystem.
