Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Nippon Ichi Software and released in 2008 for PlayStation Portable, later made available on Nintendo Switch. Players control a Prinny, the iconic penguin-like creature from the Disgaea universe, navigating through a series of Netherworld stages in a deliberately punishing experience. The core challenge is built around a starting pool of 1,000 Prinny units — lives that deplete rapidly given the game's demanding difficulty. Combat relies on slashing enemies and making use of environmental interaction: objects can be lifted and thrown, enemies can be stomped, and certain stages allow players to pilot vehicles such as tanks and planes to clear obstacles. The combination of high enemy density, precise platforming demands, and limited resources makes it one of the more unforgiving entries in the action-platformer genre.
