Ribbit King is a sports game developed by Jamsworks and released in 2003 for Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2. The game centers on a croquet-like activity called "Frolf," in which frogs serve as the balls, struck across elaborately designed courses toward a goal. Environmental factors borrowed from golf — such as wind direction — influence each shot, while the living nature of the frogs themselves adds unpredictability: they may spring off spider webs or leap toward passing flies mid-course. These frog behaviors introduce a layer of chaos that distinguishes the game from conventional sports titles. In addition to a standard single-player progression, the game includes a versus mode where players can compete against one another using their own characters. The title's name references the Japanese onomatopoeia for a frog's call, reflecting the game's lighthearted and comedic sensibility.
In Ribbit King you play as a boy named Scooter. The king of your home planet informs you that they are running out of super ribbonite and ask you to bring back more. The king's assistants send you off to win first place in a frolf tournament in order to save your planet and win a new supply of Super Ribbonite.
