Sensible World of Soccer is a football management and action sports game developed by Sensible Software, released in 1994 for Amiga and DOS. An expanded follow-up to Sensible Soccer, it covers virtually every major league worldwide, including multiple divisions per country, alongside all significant club and international competitions. The roster draws from the 1994/95 season and encompasses around 24,000 real players, each with individual attributes reflecting their actual strengths and weaknesses. A career mode supports up to 20 seasons in either a player-manager or manager-only role. Coaches are not bound to a single club — strong performance attracts offers from other teams. Player statistics improve over time through consistent goal-scoring. Beyond the career mode, the game offers friendly matches, single-season runs of any competition, and fully customisable tournaments. The DOS version is based on Amiga version 1.1 and uses updated 1995/96 season data.
The career game mode in Sensible World of Soccer enables players to manage a club through 20 seasons. Basic manager options include a transfer market (buy/sell players). Every team has a squad of 16 players, by default. Every player has individual skills (speed, tackling, heading, finishing, shooting, passing, ball control). Player prices are calculated relative to their skills. Players can be transferred from other clubs by offering an amount of money and/or own players in a part exchange deal. To be able to buy stronger players and to keep them it is necessary to earn money with success in the various competitions. Job offers from other clubs and also from a national team may roll in, depending on the success.
