Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen is a ninja action-adventure game developed by ACQUIRE Corp., released in 2011 for the PlayStation Vita. Players control a shinobi navigating environments that require scaling walls, leaping between rooftops, and moving silently to close in on targets. Combat emphasizes precise, blade-based kills, and a dedicated Assassination mechanic streamlines stealthy takedowns. As players progress through the game's dynamic storyline, they develop a broad repertoire of attacks, executing enemies with varied and stylized techniques. The controls are built around the PlayStation Vita's touch screen, integrating the hardware's capabilities throughout normal play. Compared to its predecessor, the game expands on the core formula with additional gameplay mechanics and a more involved narrative, positioning itself as a continuation that refines and builds on the foundation established by the original Shinobido.
Set six months after the events of the previous game, Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen lets players step into the shoes of Zen, a master assassin, as he slips through the darkness in a story of betrayal and intrigue set in the once peaceful region of Utakata, now in the grip of a vicious civil war. Betrayed by his companions and left fatally wounded, Zen chooses to live the life of a ninja and sets out to find those who wronged him, stopping at nothing to unleash the full fury of his silent yet deadly revenge.
