Smash Court Tennis 3 is a sports title developed by Namco, released in 2007 for PlayStation Portable and Xbox 360, and marking the series' debut on PSP. Players compete to reach the top of the world rankings using a roster of real-life professional tennis stars, each rendered to resemble their actual counterparts. Gameplay revolves around mastering a range of strokes while developing skills that improve attributes such as hit speed and serve accuracy. A mental focus system also influences character behavior and appearance during matches. The game offers twice the customizable items of its predecessor, including racquets and sportswear. Several modes are available, among them Arcade, Exhibition, and Pro Tour, alongside a collection of mini-games for a lighter break from competitive play. The expanded customization and skill progression systems give the title a longer-term progression element beyond individual matches.
