SoulCalibur III is a weapon-based fighting game developed by Project Soul and published by Namco, released in 2005 exclusively for the PlayStation 2. The fourth entry in the Soul series and a direct sequel to SoulCalibur II, it features a roster of 24 characters available in the story-driven Tales of Souls mode, with an additional 18 fighters accessible across all other modes. The game introduced three new modes alongside the returning gameplay foundations of the series, expanding both its strategic depth and replayability. With a total roster larger than any previous entry in the franchise, SoulCalibur III represented a significant broadening of the series' scope, combining the weapon-based combat the Soul series is known for with expanded single-player content and a greater variety of competitive and alternative play options.
