Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is a 2008 action game developed by Treyarch for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, with additional versions released on other platforms. The game places players in control of Spider-Man across a fully three-dimensional environment, blending combat and traversal in a style that draws from hack-and-slash, platforming, and beat 'em up traditions. Separate 2.5D side-scrolling editions were produced for PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo DS, with the handheld and last-generation console release carrying the subtitle Amazing Allies Edition. All versions were published by Activision under a Marvel license agreement. On January 1, 2014, Web of Shadows was among the Activision-published Marvel titles removed from digital storefronts following the expiration of that licensing arrangement, making physical copies the primary means of access afterward.
