Suikoden IV is a role-playing game developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, released in 2004 for PlayStation 2 and later available on PlayStation 3. Set in a maritime world that marks a significant departure from earlier entries in the series, the game follows a young knight burdened by a cursed Rune that gradually drains the life force of whoever bears it. Combat employs a strategic turn-based system in which party members can coordinate attacks and cast magic spells together. Central to the experience is the series' signature mechanic of recruiting 108 Stars of Destiny — a large cast of characters drawn from across the game world — and constructing a base of operations from scratch. The title introduces an original storyline with new characters and cinematic cutscenes while retaining the foundational structure and themes that define the long-running Suikoden franchise.
