Released in 2001 as a Game Boy Advance launch title, Super Mario Advance is a Nintendo R&D2 platformer based on Super Mario Bros. 2, itself a reskin of the Famicom title Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. The game draws primarily from the Super Mario All-Stars version, bringing its updated visuals and gameplay to handheld hardware. Players navigate side-scrolling stages, selecting from multiple characters with distinct abilities. The package also includes an updated rendition of the original Mario Bros. arcade game, which supports up to four players through the Game Boy Advance link cable. Originally a handheld exclusive, the title later became available on Wii U. It represents one of the earliest entries in the Super Mario Advance series, which brought classic Mario titles to Nintendo's then-new portable platform.
