Super Monkey Ball Adventure is a platform game developed by Traveller's Tales, released in 2006 for Nintendo GameCube and PlayStation 2. The game stars the four series regulars — AiAi, MeeMee, Baby, and GonGon — who become entangled in a crisis on Monearth after mysterious beings called Naysayers begin spreading misery across the islands. Compounding the trouble, a prince and princess have gone missing on Jungle Island. Players choose one of the four monkeys and roll across Monearth's various islands, interacting with NPCs and completing an assortment of fetch and errand tasks — delivering food, locating missing characters, and recovering rare flora, among others — in order to restore the population's happiness. The structure marks a notable departure from earlier Super Monkey Ball titles, shifting the series' familiar ball-rolling mechanics into a narrative, open-island framework built around exploration and quest completion.
