Developed by Eutechnyx and released in 2006 for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable, The Fast and the Furious is a racing game tied to the Tokyo Drift film. Gameplay is split between two distinct environments: the Wangan highway and mountain touge roads. On the Wangan, players compete in Destination Races — straightforward point-to-point contests — or Top Speed Battles, where the highest recorded speed between two points determines the winner. The touge offers Grip Battles, which are point-to-point races through tight hairpin turns running either uphill or downhill, and Drift Battles, scored by accumulated drift points over a full run. The Wangan map contains various exits leading to hotspots where races can be initiated, as well as car dealerships, tuning shops, and Robo-Garages, locations drawn directly from the Tokyo Drift film.
