The Need for Speed is a racing simulator developed by EA Canada and released in 1994 for PC (DOS and Windows), 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, and PlayStation. Players choose from eight high-performance cars and compete across six tracks set in environments such as alpine roads, with an additional bonus track unlocked by winning the Tournament mode. A sophisticated physics engine models the distinct handling, braking, and power characteristics of each vehicle, meaning track strategy must be adjusted depending on the car selected.
