The Red Star is an action game developed by Acclaim Studios Austin, released in 2007 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable, combining third-person shooting with beat 'em up combat. The game is set in an alternate-history Russia called the URRS, a militarized nation whose army, the Red Fleet, deploys massive technology and futuristic weaponry. The central narrative follows Maya Antares, a sorceress-general searching for her husband Marcus, who went missing in battle. Three playable characters are available, each offering a distinct gameplay experience with different abilities and combat styles. A cooperative multiplayer mode allows players to team up, with characters able to interact directly and execute combined special attacks. The blend of ranged and melee combat across its varied roster gives the game mechanical depth suited to both solo and co-op play.
