Released in 1999 by Arxel Tribe for Windows and Mac, The Seven Games of the Soul is a dark point-and-click adventure set in a condemned, abandoned theme park haunted by a history of mysterious disappearances. The player controls Marcellus Faust, an elderly Black man who encounters Mephistopheles — portrayed not as a conventional devil but as a charismatic and enigmatic figure — at the derelict site. Mephistopheles enlists Faust to investigate a dispute with God over the fates of seven souls who lived during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The investigation requires gathering evidence about each person's actions, examining lives marked by temptation, lust, and greed, and ultimately determining whether those lives merit condemnation. Navigation takes place across fully 3D-rendered environments that allow 360-degree rotation. The narrative leans heavily on moral ambiguity and the darker aspects of human nature.
