Released in 2005 by Rockstar Toronto for PlayStation 2, Xbox, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation 4, The Warriors is a beat 'em up and brawler based on the 1979 film of the same name. Set on the streets of New York City, the game follows the Warriors, a street gang falsely accused of murdering a rival gang leader. With the city's criminal underworld — an estimated 60,000 strong — mobilized against them, the Warriors must fight their way through waves of enemies across the urban landscape. The game translates the film's intense gang conflict into a hack-and-slash format, placing players in the midst of large-scale street brawls as the wrongly blamed crew battles to survive and clear their name against overwhelming odds.
New York, 1979. A battle on the streets. The armies of the night number 60,000 strong, and tonight they're all after The Warriors - a street gang wrongly accused of killing a rival gang leader. The Warriors must make their way from one end of New York to their turf on the other side of the city. All that stands between The Warriors and their survival are 20 miles and thousands of street gang members. The army of gangs owns the streets and there's no turning back. They must fight for their lives and learn the meaning of loyalty as danger and uncertainty emerge from the city night.
