Trash Panic is a 2009 puzzle game for PlayStation 3 in which players manage an ever-filling trash can by compacting an assortment of garbage items dropped into it from above. Rather than clearing rows of identical blocks in the manner of Tetris — to which it has drawn comparisons — the game challenges players to crush, break down, and fit together irregularly shaped pieces of refuse to prevent the bin from overflowing. The physical properties of different waste items affect how they interact when stacked or smashed, adding a layer of strategy to the compaction process. Managing the accumulating clutter efficiently is the central challenge, as each new item dropped demands careful consideration of what lies beneath it.
