Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown is a 3D fighting game developed by Sega AM2, released in arcades in 2010 and later brought to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. An expanded revision of Virtua Fighter 5, it overhauls the base game's combat mechanics, character balance, and animations, while introducing new fighters, redesigned dynamic arenas, and additional game modes. Visual fidelity receives a significant upgrade, with enhanced next-generation lighting applied to both characters and environments. A deep customization system allows players to dress each fighter in a variety of patterned costumes and equip attachable items across individual body parts. Competing against skilled opponents earns in-game currency, which can be spent at an in-game shop to unlock further cosmetic items. The result is the most complete and polished iteration of the fifth mainline entry in Sega's long-running Virtua Fighter series.
