Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden is a card-based role-playing game developed by Square Enix and released in 2022 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The second entry in the Voice of Cards series, it presents every element of its world — maps, characters, enemies, and dialogue — through physical cards, evoking the aesthetic of tabletop RPGs and gamebooks. The story takes place across a remote island chain historically protected by mystical maidens, a tradition now threatened by imminent destruction. The protagonist sets out to rescue the islanders, accompanied by Laty, a young woman who failed to achieve maiden status. The game was created by a team that includes creative director Yoko Taro, composer Keiichi Okabe, and character designer Kimihiko Fujisaka. It operates as a standalone narrative, independent of its predecessor, Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars.
