Vs. Excitebike is a multiplayer motocross racing game developed by Pax Softnica and published by Nintendo, originally released in arcades in 1984 before later appearing on the Family Computer Disk System and Wii U. It emerged shortly after the original Excitebike launched on the Famicom, serving partly as a means to build awareness and demand for the home version among American audiences. As an expansion of the base game's motocross simulation, it adds a competitive multiplayer component, allowing more than one rider to race simultaneously — the defining distinction from its single-player predecessor. Players navigate motocross tracks, managing speed and terrain obstacles characteristic of the series. The arcade release positioned the game as a social, competitive experience, contrasting with the solo-focused structure of the original Famicom title.
