Wii Fit is a sports and fitness simulator developed by Nintendo EAD Software Development Group No.5, released in 2007 for the Wii. The game is built around the Wii Balance Board, a pressure-sensitive platform peripheral on which players stand while performing exercises. Activities span four categories: yoga, strength training, aerobics, and balance games. Beyond home use, the title found practical applications in physiotherapy rehabilitation, health clubs, and nursing homes, where it was employed to help improve posture in elderly residents. Reviews were generally positive, though some critics noted that certain workout activities lacked sufficient intensity. Commercially, the game achieved remarkable success, reaching 22.67 million copies sold by March 2012 and ranking as the third best-selling console game not bundled with hardware at that time.
