Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is a turn-based strategy game developed by Intelligent Systems for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi, released in 2008. Set in an entirely new world distinct from its predecessors, the game opens in the aftermath of a catastrophic meteor shower that wiped out roughly 90 percent of the global population. The survivors have fractured into warring militaristic factions fighting over what little civilization remains. Players control Will, a young military cadet who becomes entangled in these conflicts early in the campaign. Gameplay follows the series' established framework of tactical, grid-based combat, now set against a darker post-apocalyptic backdrop that marks a significant tonal departure from earlier entries in the franchise. The title offers both a single-player campaign and additional competitive modes suited to the portable hardware.
