Adventures of Lolo is a puzzle game developed by HAL Laboratory and released in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, with later availability on Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS. Based on the Japanese Eggerland series, the game tasks players with navigating a series of single-screen rooms, collecting heart framers to unlock a treasure chest while avoiding enemies. Strategic thinking is central to the experience, as enemies patrol fixed patterns and players must carefully plan each move to reach the exit safely. The game features Lolo, a small blue character who can collect power-ups to temporarily neutralize threats. Across dozens of increasingly complex rooms, the challenge escalates steadily, requiring players to manage enemy positions, environmental obstacles, and limited resources. Its straightforward controls mask puzzles that demand deliberate, methodical problem-solving.
Adventures of Lolo begins with Lala being captured by the villain, King Egger, requiring Lolo to go to Egger's castle to rescue her. This castle has several floors, each of them requiring players to collect hearts that open a treasure chest. Once this chest is opened, players may then proceed into the next room. After four rooms, they will find a stairway leading them upward. The levels get progressively harder, and have several varieties of enemies.
