Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is an action-RPG platformer developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance and later available on Wii U. Set in 2035, the game follows Soma Cruz, a young man who loses consciousness during the first solar eclipse of the 21st century and awakens trapped inside a mysterious castle. Players explore interconnected labyrinthine environments in the series' signature metroidvania style, battling dangerous monsters throughout the castle's many passages and chambers. A central element of gameplay is the threat of corruption closing in on Soma, adding urgency to the exploration. The title builds on the action-RPG framework established by earlier entries in the Castlevania series, combining platforming traversal with character progression as Soma works to understand his surroundings and find a way to escape the castle before darkness overtakes him.
