Castlevania: The Adventure

A side-scrolling platformer developed by Konami and released for the Game Boy in 1989, Castlevania: The Adventure was the first entry in the Castlevania series to appear on the handheld. Set one hundred years prior to the original game, it follows Christopher Belmont, an ancestor of Simon Belmont, as he embarks on a quest to confront and defeat Dracula. Players navigate Christopher through a series of stages, using the series' signature whip-based combat against enemies and environmental hazards. The game later became available on the Nintendo 3DS. As a foundational portable entry in the long-running Konami franchise, it established the groundwork for subsequent Game Boy installments while maintaining the gothic atmosphere and action-platformer mechanics that defined the mainline series.
