Colin McRae Rally 04 is a rally racing simulator developed by Codemasters Southam, released in 2003 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. The fourth entry in the series, it notably departs from its predecessors by dropping the official WRC team license, meaning car liveries are either fictional or drawn from non-WRC championships rather than the real-world circuit. Players compete across six championships using vehicles drawn from four classes: 4WD, 2WD, Group B, and a Bonus class comprising cars not typically associated with rally racing. The game also marks a change in co-driver talent, with Derek Ringer taking over the navigator role from Nicky Grist, who had featured in earlier installments. Despite the absence of official WRC branding, the game retains the series' focus on technically demanding rally driving across a varied roster of vehicles and competitive events.
