Colin McRae Rally 3 is a rally racing game developed by Codemasters Southam, released in 2002 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. Players compete across three seasons of the World Rally Championship, driving a Ford Focus RS WRC through eight competitions per season held in seven real-world locations: Australia, the United States, England, Sweden, Japan, Greece, and Finland. Each competition comprises six stages set across varied terrain, capped by a head-to-head stage against rival teams. Progress depends on beating target times across each stage, with cumulative results determining the overall championship standing. Between events, players can adjust the Focus's mechanical configuration, tuning components such as suspension, brakes, gearboxes, and wheels to suit different stage conditions. A test drive option allows the modified setup to be evaluated before committing to a competition, providing an opportunity to refine handling prior to each event.
