Colin McRae: Dirt is an off-road racing game developed by Codemasters Southam, released in 2007 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game covers a wide range of motorsport disciplines, including traditional rally and hill climb events alongside multi-car formats such as rally raid, rallycross, and CORR buggy and truck racing. It was among the first entries in the series to leverage next-generation hardware, featuring detailed visuals and a vehicle damage model that reflects the punishment of off-road competition. An online multiplayer mode supports up to 100 players. The title was the last in the series to carry Colin McRae's name; following his death in a helicopter accident in September 2007, subsequent releases and later re-releases dropped his name from the branding. The game marked a significant expansion of the series' scope beyond pure rally racing into broader off-road competition.
