Released in 2003 for PC, Trials of Atlantis is the second expansion pack for Mythic Entertainment's massively multiplayer online RPG Dark Age of Camelot. The expansion introduces the sunken civilization of Atlantis as a new high-level zone, requiring characters to be at least level 40 to participate. The Atlantean lands are divided into four distinct environments: the underwater realm of Oceanus, the Egyptian-themed desert of Stigya, the lava-filled hellscape of Volcanus, and the aerial archipelago of Aerus. Players work through a series of obstacle courses and combat challenges left behind by the ancient Atlantean civilization, uncovering the secrets of its lost power. Each of the game's three realms — Albion, Hibernia, and Midgard — accesses its own separate instance of Atlantis, eliminating player-versus-player conflict in the region. The expansion also adds one new playable race per realm: the half-ogre, the Shar, and the Frostalfar, alongside an upgraded graphics engine featuring improved textures and new water effects.
