Dead Space: Extraction is a on-rails shooter developed by Eurocom Entertainment Software, released in 2009 for the Wii and PlayStation 3. Set as a prequel to the original Dead Space, it follows a small group of survivors on the Aegis VII colony as a catastrophic Necromorph outbreak unfolds around them. The survivors' goal is to reach the orbiting mining vessel USG Ishimura, but their efforts are complicated by a spreading dementia that claims many of their companions. Central to the story is a young girl who appears inexplicably immune to the affliction, making her protection a critical priority. The narrative frames the events as having potentially far-reaching consequences for humanity. Players move through the game along a fixed path, engaging Necromorphs while experiencing a story that fills in background details left unexplored in the main series entry.
