ESPN NFL 2K5 is an American football simulation game developed by Visual Concepts and published by Sega, released in July 2004 for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The sixth entry in the NFL 2K series, it presents its gameplay within a full ESPN broadcast presentation, incorporating the voices and digital likenesses of several ESPN on-air personalities to replicate the feel of a live televised game. It holds a notable place in sports gaming history as the final NFL 2K title to carry official NFL licensing before Electronic Arts secured an exclusive agreement with the league, effectively ending competition between the 2K series and EA's Madden NFL franchise. It was also the last NFL game to come out of Sega's development pipeline. The combination of its broadcast-style presentation and its position as the last officially licensed 2K football title have kept it a frequently discussed entry in the genre.
