Etrian Odyssey V: Beyond the Myth is a dungeon-crawling RPG developed by Atlus and released in 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS, and the fifth main entry in the long-running Etrian Odyssey series. The game follows a new adventurer ascending the massive Yggdrasil Tree, navigating the perilous Yggdrasil Labyrinth floor by floor in pursuit of a legendary wish said to be granted at the summit. Players assemble a party from four distinct races and ten character classes, with more customization options than any prior installment in the franchise. A streamlined skill tree and class advancement system allow for considerable flexibility in how party members are developed and specialized. As with the broader series, first-person exploration and cartography on the Nintendo 3DS touchscreen are central mechanics, alongside turn-based combat against the labyrinth's many threats.
