F.E.A.R. Files is a 2007 first-person shooter compilation developed by TimeGate Studios for Xbox 360, bundling the two standalone expansions to the original F.E.A.R. The first, Extraction Point, picks up directly where the base game's story left off, continuing the narrative through a new single-player campaign. The second, Perseus Mandate, runs parallel to those events from the perspective of a separate F.E.A.R. operatives team, functioning as a side story rather than a direct continuation. Both expansions include their own Instant Action modes and additional multiplayer maps, and neither requires ownership of the original F.E.A.R. to play. The compilation gives players access to two complete campaigns along with supplementary content in a single package.
The plot of F.E.A.R. Extraction Point begins immediately after the original F.E.A.R. First Encounter Assault Recon. As the helicopter that the F.E.A.R. Point Man is on attempts to leave the vicinity, it instead winds up crashing. The Point Man is thus forced to seek out an alternate extraction point, and this becomes the overarching goal of the title. F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate concerns a parallel plot line which takes place at the same time as F.E.A.R., as well as during some of the events from F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. A second F.E.A.R. team, including the player character, the Sergeant, is sent to investigate Armacham Technology Corporation. New game elements include a new enemy faction, the Nightcrawlers, who are dangerous human mercenaries equipped with specialized weaponry, more new weapons, and new locations.
