Released in 2009 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, The Ballad of Gay Tony is the second episodic expansion for Grand Theft Auto IV, developed by Rockstar Toronto. The game centers on Luis Fernando Lopez, a former Dominican drug dealer who serves as the personal bodyguard — or "business associate," as he prefers — of Anthony "Gay Tony" Prince, the flamboyant owner of Liberty City's two most prominent nightclubs. Prince occupies a position of considerable social influence, and much of the narrative revolves around the tensions that arise from Luis navigating competing loyalties to family and friends while operating in a world where trust is perpetually in question. Spanning the shooter, racing, and adventure genres, the expansion immerses players in a milieu of excess, organized crime, and high-stakes social maneuvering set against the backdrop of Liberty City's glamorous and dangerous upper echelons.
