Guitar Hero: Metallica is a music rhythm game developed by Neversoft Entertainment and published by Activision, released in 2009 for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360. The second band-focused entry in the Guitar Hero series after Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, it builds on the Guitar Hero World Tour framework to support lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, and vocals across single-player and band Career modes, online competitive play, and the song creation and sharing tool GHTunes. The setlist comprises 28 Metallica master recordings alongside 21 additional tracks handpicked by the band, spanning their full career. A standout addition is the Expert+ drum difficulty, which accommodates a second bass drum pedal to replicate Lars Ulrich's playing style. Metallica members participated in extensive motion capture for their in-game avatars, and the game includes behind-the-scenes footage, concert videos, and trivia annotations for many of the included songs.
