Harry Potter for Kinect is a motion-controlled action game developed for Xbox 360 and released in 2012, built around the full arc of the eight Harry Potter films. Using Kinect's body-scanning technology, players create a personalized witch or wizard character in their own likeness, which is then integrated directly into the gameplay. The experience follows key story moments from the series, beginning with a wand selection at Ollivanders and the Hogwarts Sorting ceremony, and culminating in a final confrontation with Voldemort. Spells are cast through physical gestures and voice commands corresponding to spell names, with no traditional controller required. Attending classes allows players to develop casting, potion brewing, and dueling abilities, gradually unlocking additional lessons and challenges. A separate multiplayer component supports both competitive and cooperative play, letting two players face off in mini-games or team up against shared opponents.
