Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F is a music rhythm game developed by Sega Corporation, released in 2012 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. The fifth installment in the Project Diva series, it was also the first entry to receive a Western release. Gameplay centers on hitting notes in time with songs produced using Vocaloid singing synthesis software, with Hatsune Miku as the most prominent virtual performer. Building on the series' established face-button and arrow-based note system, the game introduces a "Star" symbol tied to a Scratch mechanic, executed by rubbing the touchscreen or flicking the analog stick depending on the platform. The Chance Time system has been reworked so that successful inputs gradually fill a star-shaped gauge; completing it triggers a final scratch note that, if cleared, alters the current scene. An additional Technical Zone mechanic rewards players who maintain unbroken combos within designated song segments with bonus points.
